Houston Times

An ultra-conservative Democratic newspaper published during Reconstruction, and available on microfilm at HMRC. A Huntsville Republican paper at the time referred to it as “the Ku-Klux Houston Times.”1 It earned the nickname with daily screeds about the radical program and frequent use of racial slurs and racist stereotype.

According to merseburger1950, its publication was suspended by death of senior editor and then succeed in May 1871 by the Houston Age.
