Yarbrough, Biscoe, and Short
A gun manufacturing company in Tyler, Texas, mentioned by kerby1972 as the largest private rifle works. It “contracted—but failed—to supply the army with 5,000” weapons and was later purchased by the Ordnance Bureau in autumn 1863 (75).
The company started as “Short, Biscoe & Co.” and advertised for 30 or 40 gunsmiths in August 1862, mentioning their recent contract to produce 5,000 guns.
